A Taste of Cognac 2027
A Five-Night Culinary & Cultural Experience at La Menarderie
5-10 November 2027 | Cognac, France €8500/$9800
There is a particular kind of magic that happens when beautiful food, a thoughtfully set table, and curious people come together with nowhere else they need to be.
In November 2027, Chef Eric Duvin of Walnut Grove Cookery and I will open the doors of La Menarderie, my 18th-century home among the vineyards of Cognac, for five delicious nights devoted to French cuisine, culture and the art of gathering.
Our days will unfold with a spirit of curiosity and discovery. We’ll explore the markets, makers, ingredients and traditions of the region, then return to La Menarderie to cook alongside Eric, a classically trained French chef with over 40 years of culinary experience. We’ll learn the art of French cuisine, cook with ingredients rooted in the season and this corner of France, and experience the kind of nourishment that extends well beyond what is on the plate.
And then, we’ll gather.
Around tables dressed with vintage linens, candlelight and whatever the gardens and surrounding landscape inspire me to clip, gather and bring indoors. We’ll linger over menus and meals, pour another glass, and enjoy intriguing conversation.
There will be time to learn and time to wander. Time for discovery and time for stillness. Attention will be paid to the smallest details, while the days themselves will have room to breathe.
This is not a cooking course with accommodations attached, nor a traditional tour of the Cognac region. It is an invitation into a beautifully considered few days of French country life—where food, place, beauty and conversation become inseparable.
Five nights at La Menarderie. Seasonal French cuisine. The culture and flavors of Cognac. Beautiful tables. Expansive conversations. And plenty of room for the unexpected.
Five nights, six guests, 5-10 November 2027 €8500/$9800.
